This morning I woke up and read Dr. Dennen's work on Instructional Design and Development for Social Media Lessons. I know it is a work in progress, so I will not get into specifics, however, as I was reading through it, I was making connections on how she has implemented this design process for our course.
I see how she "created a ledge" for us, so that we are not roaming the web, with all of these resources and no idea what to do with them. However, she has not made the course a linear path, we have options, and with those options, the ability to be creative and learn what we want to help our individual needs.
She highlights how it is crucial to remain flexible. We saw during week four that sometimes there are situations that happen outside of the classroom that affect what happens inside of the classroom.
The best part about reading her work while going through her course is that she has modeled the content for us. I have been to so many Professional Development sessions where we are being taught to teach a certain way, but the way we are being taught is unconducive to learning the technique. It is so frustrating!
Reading her chapter this week also helped me recenter myself and how to work through this class. I feel that sometimes I start going too deep down one path, this helped me remember the purpose I have in taking this course, and what I want out of it.
Looking forward to another great week in EME6414!
I agree. I appreciate the creative flexibility that she has given us to figure out how these fit into our context.
